On December 26, 1937 Lester and Annie Bell Cooper were blessed with a son whom they named Willie Morgan Cooper, Sr. Willie was preceded in death by his father Lester Cooper, Sr., mother Annie Bell and two brothers Lester, Jr. and Billy Ray. Willie fought a good fight after a long battle. He departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2015 surrounded by his family and friends. Willie confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age. He later re-confessed his faith at New St. Martin of Freeport. Willie was employed at Thermos for many years. He also worked at Swiss Colony up until his illness. He was accomplished and received many certificates and awards in management. Willie found the love of his life, Elizabeth Thompson-Cooper in 1968 and through this union ten children were raised. Willie Cooper, Sr.'s legacy will always live on. He leaves to cherish his memory: His beloved wife Elizabeth Cooper, six sons, Willie Cooper, Jr. of Houston, Texas; Cornell Cooper of Simmesport, Louisiana; Lewis James (Vernita) Cooper of Claredon Hills, Illinois; Ray Anthony Thompson (Linda) of Freeport, Illinois; Garry Thompson of Elgin, Illinois; Jeffery Lamont Cooper, Colorado. One step-daughter, Christina Johnson (Thomas) of Freeport, Illinois; Four daughters: Janette Thompson of Freeport, Illinois; Alfreda Pearson (Dymon) of Freeport, Illinois; Lisa Mays (Tyrone) of Peoria, Illinois; and Wilena Thompson of Freeport, Illinois. One brother, Thomas Cooper of Alsip, Illinois, Three Sisters: Lettie Davis (E.D.) of Markham, Illinois, Essis Francisco (Arthur) of Alsip, Illinois, Clara Harrington (Leroy) of Posen, Illinois; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces , nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday March 27, 2015 at Faith Center 504 W. Pleasant Street Freeport, IL, with Rev. Michael Sowell officiating.
