William Thomas Roby, 94 of Freeport Died Friday, March 1, at Manor Court, Liberty Village of Freeport. He was born August 24, 1918 in Windsor, Illinois the son of Ralph and Alma (Storm) Roby. After graduating from Windsor Community High School, he attended Shop Training Camp near Paradise Lake, Mattoon, Ill. He then move to Hoopston, ill. working for Food Machinery Corporation, to produce war equipment material. After attending Wheaton College, Bill graduated from the University of Illinois in 1948. He moved to Freeport where he worked for the Soil Conservation Service. He married L. Lucille Poynter on December 16, 1950 in Freeport, Il. She died march 31, 1988. Mr. and Mrs. Roby began farming near Lena, Il. Bill and Lucile moved to a farm near Red Oak, Il. in 1965. He farmed for forty years, retiring in 1990. Bill has spend the last several years of his life enjoying the environment and circumstance at Liberty Village. Mr. Roby was a member of the Stephenson County Farm Bureau, Pork Producers and Cattle Feeders Association. Mr. Roby was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas H. Roby. A funeral service for Mr. Roby will be Wednesday, 10:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church, Freeport. Rev. Caleb Kolstad, pastor will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. Steve Rios. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until time of service in the church. Burial will be in Cedarville, Cemetery.
