William L. (Billy) Morrow Jr., 81 died June 3rd, 2023. Born June 7, 1941 in Chicago, IL. He arrived in Freeport at age 11and never left his hometown. Graduating 1959 from Freeport High where he was a Southpaw pitcher for the Pretzel Baseball team. He attended college in Alamosa Colorado on a baseball scholarship and his love for the game continued throughout his life. Whether it was playing on Semi-pro teams, softball or rooting on his beloved Philadelphia Phillies. The best days were in the fall with the fire roaring, vodka in hand, he had the Packers at noon and Phillies at 7.
Golfing with his buddies was a favorite past time and he carries with him many happy memories with his friends, old and new. Billy will be laid to rest along hole #7 where he got his first hole in one. Say hi to him on your way by.
He had a 40 year career with Inlander-Steindler Paper Company. Selling to many of the local manufacturers, hospitals and businesses in Freeport and surrounding areas.
After which, he joined The Morse Group, where he laughed, had the best job anywhere, except for Jim Nantz.
With him now are his parents William L and Jane (Sutton) Morrow sister and brother-in-law Mary Jane and Jim Kerch, grandson Adam and many friends.
He will be missed by his wife Lora (Van Fleet) Morrow his children Kevin (Helen) Morrow, Debra (Jon) Wenger, brother James (Rita) Morrow and many grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers a memorial to the Don Morse Foundation has been established, a local Freeport charity giving only to the needs of Freeport. That was started in honor of his best friend for life Don Morse.
Visitation will be Tuesday June 13, 2023, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home.
