William J. Henning

William J. Henning, 73, of Freeport, IL, died Thursday January 21, 2021 at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born December 15, 1947 in Freeport, IL, the son of Wilhelm and Fern (Eggemeier) Henning. William married Mary Ann Barcellona March 15, 1969 in Freeport, IL; she died January 11, 2006. William worked as a millwright for Micro Switch/Honeywell for 42 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969 during the Vietnam War where he earned multiple prestigious awards and medals. He loved golfing at Park Hills Golf Course, watching game shows, casino trips and following all the local sports teams. William is survived by his son, Andrew (Tonia) Henning of Dallas, TX; sisters, Carol Lynch of Forreston, IL and Judy (Dale) Rupnow of Browntown, WI; and his companion in life for the last 13 years, Rhonda Scheider of McConnell, IL. William was preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm and Fern Henning; wife, Mary Ann Henning; two sisters, Geraldine and Hannah; and brother, Roger. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 22, 2021 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Pastor Gavin Brandt will officiate. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service also at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
