William "Bill" R. Reed, 82, of Freeport, died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Center. Bill was born April 28, 1935 in Freeport, the son of Roy and Clara (Nehus) Reed. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957, and he achieved "MACHINEST MATE 1st CLASS". Bill married Corrine "Connie" Russell June 22, 1957 in Freeport. Alongside his wife and son, Bob, he owned and operated Reed Auto Repair for 22 years before reluctantly retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bill enjoyed following NASCAR and going fishing. His grandchildren and family meant the world to him. Surviving are his wife, Corrine 'Connie" Reed of Freeport; son, Robert C. (Barbara) Reed of Freeport; daughters, Stacia J. (Nick) Agostinelli Reed of Vernon Hills and Stefanie J. (James) Baxter of Wilmington, DE.; brother, Robert (Geraldine) Reed of Freeport; sister, Carol (James) Tegl of Powder Springs, GA.; four grandchildren, Paula Hurley, Leslie Andreska, Gretchen Jankiewicz, and Ginger Baxter; and two great-grandchildren, Vaughn and Faye Andreska. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Sara J. Reed. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday February 6, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Joseph. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Bill's memory.
