William "Bill" L. Boland Sr., 88, formerly of Forreston, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in Gresham, Oregon. Bill was born October 8, 1929 in Freeport, the son of Joseph and Fern (Cheeseman) Boland. Bill married Sue Cox in November 1953. Then he married Violet Toelke on July 14, 1972. Violet died November 8, 2001. He then marred Lois Swalve on September 3, 2004 at United Methodist Church, Forreston. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Kelly Springfield for many years. He was a member of Forreston United Methodist Church, Forreston American Legion, and Mt. Morris Golf Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting during his free time. Surviving are his wife, Lois Boland of Gresham, Oregon; four sons, William (Marjorie) Boland Jr. of Freeport, Raymond (Leticia) Boland of Pearl City, and Charles (Brenda) Boland of Freeport and Matt (Margaret) Boland of Maryland; five brothers, Barney Boland of Dubuque, Michael Boland of St. Louis, Kenny Boland of Freeport, Tony Boland of Dubuque, and Jack Boland of Dubuque. Also surviving are several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Violet; six brothers, Leo, Joe, Brian, Robert, Danny, and Charles; and three sisters, Ann, Mary, and Pat. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 24, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Rev. Bill Blomberg will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
