William "Bill" Dorsey, 77, of Freeport, was called home to his Lord and savior on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in Stephenson Nursing Center. William was born on July 15, 1937 in Freeport, the son of Paul and Everdean (Hood) Dorsey. Bill worked at Micro Switch for thirty years and owned and operated Ridott Corners. He married the love of his life Karen Baker on January 1, 1988 in Mauston, WI. She passed away on January 3, 2013. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1964. He was a member of New Life Bible Church, Gideon's, Jail Ministry and was a fisher of men. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and was a Green Bay Packer fan. Survivors include two sons, Lamont "Monte" (Judy) Dorsey of German Valley and Tim (Chris) Dorsey of Independence, IA; two daughters, Melissa Saunders of Winnebago and Mindy Saunders of Pecatonica; step mother, Marilyn Stevens; sister in law, Pear Dorsey of Freeport; grandchildren, Monica, Brittney, Nathan, Brandon, Tana, Chance, Hannah, Cyric, Chloe, Billy, Mike, Kelly, Jenna, Lisa, Patrick and Tyler. He is also leaving behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Karen and brother, Bob. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 23, 4 p.m. at New Life Bible Church, 2285 N. Hoisington Road, Pecatonica. Rev. Tim Spickler will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. at the church. A luncheon will follow the service at church. Burial will be in Gund Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
