William A. Kloos, 86, of Freeport, died Wednesday July 5, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. He was born September 10, 1930 in Iowa City, IA, the son of George and Marie (McGuire) Kloos. He married Kathleen Oakley February 10, 1974 in Mars Hill, N.C. William graduated from Freeport High School in 1949. He served in the Air Force from 1951-1955, and was stationed in Japan for two years during the Korean War. He received his B.S. degree in labor and management from the University of Iowa in 1958. Following college, he worked at Honeywell and retired as Director of Quality after 38 years. He was a member of the Embury Church for over 70 years, where he served on a variety of committees, mostly involving finance. William volunteered his time on many committees including: President of the Senior Citizens Board of Directors (2 terms), NIAAA Vice President Board of Directors, NIAAA Advisory Council, and Malcolm Eaton Enterprises for over 20 years, where he served as President, and won the Matthew A. Marvin Community Impact Award, in which he donated the award money back to Malcolm Eaton. William is survived by his wife Kathleen Kloos of Freeport, IL; his son David (Diane) Kloos of Denver, CO; his son-in-law Steve Lehne of Freeport, IL; five grandchildren Jordan Isaacs of Thorton, CO, Alex Kloos of Boston, MA, Jake Isaacs of Aurora, CO, Danny Kloos of Denver, CO, and Abby Kloos of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter Julie Lehne. A memorial service will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday July 11, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Eddie Eddy and Rev. Bill Blomberg officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6:00 P.M. Monday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial of cremains will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens following the service.
