Willard Glen Runte

November 8, 1925 — June 16, 2014

Willard Glen Runte, 88, of Forreston, went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2014 at Freeport Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Willard was born on November 8, 1925, the son of Oscar and Minnie (Zumdahl) Runte. He attended Forreston schools including a one room school house on Pit road. Willard married Donna Stamm on September 15, 1952. Willard was a lifelong farmer with his son in Forreston. He enjoyed working with his hands and being creative in making improvements that he designed. He also ran a custom spraying business and worked at Forreston Ready Mix. He was a lifelong member of North Grove Evangelical Church, where he served on the cemetery board. Willard is survived by his wife, two sons, Glenn Runte of Oregon and Richard (Cindi) Runte of Forreston. Four grandchildren, Angie (Shaun) Pitter of Rockford, Kyle (Jennifer) Runte of Pecatonica, Mallory (Clay) West of Davenport, IA., and Elizabeth Runte of Minneapolis, MN. Also surviving is one great-grandson, Peyton Pitter. He was preceded by his parents, his brother Dale Runte and sister, Leona Runte. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 21, 2014 at North Grove Evangelical Church, 10384 West Coffman Road, Forreston. Rev. Tim Hotchkiss will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church. Burial will take place at the Church cemetery. Due to allergies no flowers please. A memorial has been established in Willard's memory for the North Grove Cemetery Fund. The family wishes to thank FHN, RMH and Freeport Rehab for their excellent care.
