Wayne Henry Wilhelms

Wayne Henry Wilhelms was born March 6, 1937, and passed away peacefully on February 24th, 2022. Wayne graduated from Freeport High School and married Donna Hubbard on December 16, 1956. She passed away in September of 1991. Together they raised four children. Wayne worked for the Freeport School District for many years before his retirement. Before that Wayne farmed the family farm and ran the grain mill in Florence Station. Wayne enjoyed watching sports, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wayne was an Eagles Club member. Wayne also enjoyed his morning coffees and reading the newspaper with his sister, Carolyn. Wayne loved being with his family. He is survived by his children, Scott (Diane) Wilhelms, Christy (Kevin) Duerson), Derick (Dawn) Wilhelms and JoDeen (Delbert) Bunker. Wayne had ten grandchildren Andrew (Michelle Tepsa) Wilhelms, Janelle (Jason) Nelson, Jennifer (Tim) Deller, Chelsey Bunyer (Blair Izard) Megan (Zeke Soto) Bunyer, Chase (Rian Thurow) Wilhelms, Wiley Duerson, Emily Duerson, Haley (Jack Kurtz) Bunker and Josie Bunker. Wayne is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Wayne is also survived by his sisters June Gaar and Carolyn Amodeo. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date in Freeport, IL. Events Details are pending.
