Walter R. Campbell

Walter R. Campbell, 80, of Freeport, died Saturday may 5, 2018 at Amberwood Care Center in Rockford. He was born August 10, 1937 in Memphis, TN, the son of Clarence and Maggie (Rhodes) Campbell. He married Hattie Collins. Walter worked at Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Walter is survived by three stepchildren, Kelvin Campbell of Toledo, OH, Jeannine (Jerome) Banks of Dalton, IL, and Chimene Campbell of Chicago, IL; brother, Jimmie (Sylvia) Poindexter; sister, Elma Campbell; seven grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Audrey Boyett. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday May 12, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Threadgill officiating.
