Virginia M. Roach

Virginia M. Roach, 93, of Freeport, died Monday October 22, 2018 at Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport. She was born May 21, 1925 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Deguardi) Catanzaro. Virginia married James Roach February 3, 1944; he died April 21, 2004. Virginia worked at Burgess Battery in Freeport. She enjoyed playing bingo and singing. Family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her son, Gary (Jackie) Roach of Freeport, IL; daughter, Marianna (Anthony) Pfeiffer of Freeport, Il; grandchildren, Christine Pfeiffer, Laurie Lafferty, Gary (Julie) Pfeiffer, Justin Roach (Leeann), and Brandon (Tamara) Roach; great-grandchildren, Christopher Lafferty, Alexis Pfeiffer, Jenna Lafferty, Mathew Pfeiffer, Noah Roach, and Madison Roach. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and two brothers. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M .Saturday October 27, 2018 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Blomberg officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial of cremains will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her memory.
