Violet Louise Borneman, age 92, died peacefully Wednesday June 29, 2016 in Pinecrest Manor, Mount Morris, Ill. after a short illness. Violet was born April 7, 1924 on the family farm near Adeline, Ill. She was the daughter of George and Louise (Hartje) Borneman. Violet was a graduate of Leaf River High School and spent her working career as a secretary. She worked many years at the Stephenson County Extension Service in Freeport. She enjoyed gardening, music, and family genealogy. Many children received piano lessons from her. Violet was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, Forreston, Ill. and dedicated to the work of her church as well as her family. Violet is survived by sister-in-law Helen Borneman and nieces and nephews: Louise (Craig) Suttman, Pat (Brian) Borger, Paul (Mary) Borneman, Gary (Penny) Borneman, Linda Borneman, Mary Jo (Daniel) Dilbeck and David Borneman; and many great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Emerson and Orville and sister-in-law Doris. Per Violet's request, there will be no visitation and a private burial. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St James Lutheran Church, rural Forreston, Ill. with Pastor Steven Erickson officiating. Burial will be at West Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to St. James Lutheran Church or West Grove Cemetery Association, Forreston, Ill.
