Viola G. "Tootie" Martin, 92, of Freeport, died Friday July 15, 2016 in her home. She was born February 13, 1924 in Medford, WI, the daughter of Emil and Emma (Handel) Paugel. She married Frank Martin October 17, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, MO; he died January 5, 2015. Viola was the manager of the catalog department at Montgomery Wards. She enjoyed painting, crafts, and was an avid reader. Viola is survived by her two daughters Linda (Pete) Hubbard and Crystal Schweigert both of Freeport; five grandchildren Eric McDonald, Melody Managhan, Mary Dominguez, Bryan Schweigert, and Christopher Schweigert; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her granddaughter Angie Patterson; her great-grandson Trenton Schweigert; and her son-in-law Michael McDonald. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday July 20, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport.
