Viola "Bud" Pfund

July 31, 1916 — April 21, 2012

Viola 'Bud' Pfund, 95, formerly of Shannon, died Saturday April 21, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Viola was born on July 31, 1916 in Ridott the daughter of John R. and Phoebe (Strong) Reeder. Viola attended Ridott School, East Side School in Freeport, Freeport Junior and Senior High School. She was a member of the 20 Year Newell Club. She enjoyed dancing and doing craft work. Viola wintered in Arizona from 1979-1989. She worked at Burgess Battery, Fairbanks Morse and Newell. Viola married Preston Stoner, following his death she married Harold Pfund who also preceded her in death. Survivors include one daughter; Norma (Paul) Meier of Shannon, three granddaughters; Carmen (Alan) Schadelwaldt of Rock City, ConniAnn (Donald) Keckler of Lanark, Jackie (Paul) Albertson of Lanark, grandson; Michael Bingner of Lanark, six great granddaughters; Nicole (James) Merboth of Forreston, Michele Keckler of Lanark, Kayla (Tony) Diehl of Lanark, Kara Brinkmeier of Rockford, Katie Albertson of Lanark, Kalina Bingner of Freeport, two great grandsons; Schyler Bingner and Josh Albertson. Also surviving are 2 great-great granddaughters; Violet Diehl and Lily Diehl. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, six sisters, one son; John 'Jack' Bingner and one great grandson. As Viola had requested there will be no visitation or service. Cremation rites have been accorded burial of remains will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date. A memorial has been established in her memory.
