Victoria M. Erwin

Victoria M. Erwin, 96, of Freeport, died Saturday, February 3, 2018 in her home. Victoria was born December 14, 1921 in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Tratnick) Lachenberg. She married James B. Erwin August 1, 1945 in Chicago. Mr. Erwin died November 3, 2004. Victoria was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Aquinas Church. Victoria was one that always placed others above herself, helping out the homeless and the less fortunate were important to her. She worked as a substitute teacher at St. Thomas School in her younger years. Victoria is survived by her daughters, Cindy Erwin of Freeport and Jamie Carroll of Galena; one granddaughter, Nikki Sands; and one great-granddaughter, Farrah Sands. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and one sister. Memorial mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday February 10, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, with rosary beginning at 6:30. There will also be a visitation 9:30 a.m. until time of service at St. Thomas on Saturday.
