Verle E. Fogle, 86, of Leaf River died Sunday, December 30, at Neighbors Nursing Center, Byron. Mr. Fogle was born February 7, 1926 near Forreston, Illinois the son of Ernie and Ruth (Stukenberg) Fogle. Verle was a 1944 graduate of Leaf River High School. He served with the United States Army during W.W. II. Verle married Betty Kuntzelman in 1947. She died February 14, 1993. He married Lois Linker on July 19, 1996 at Forreston. Mr. Fogle was employed in feed sales for many years. His employment included Adeline Grains and was also employed by Kraft foods in the Agriculture division. He later served as plant manager for the Honneger's Company in Michigan. He later worked as a independent Insurance Agent and also for Northwest Mutual of Illinois. He served the Leaf River, Freeport and Byron area. Verle helped start the Little League and Cub Scouts program in Leaf River, Illinois. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed watching and feeding birds, walking and following his investments. In addition to his wife, Mr. Fogle is survived by three sons, Emerson (Lisa) Fogle of Springfield, Mo.; Gary (Debbie) Fogle of Bettendorf, Iowa and Michael (Sandy) Fogle of Palmyra, Va. Seven grandchildren, Dana Fogle, Megan Rosenstiel, Stephanie Fogle, Allison Fogle, Alisha Atchison , Sarah Fogle and Alexander Fogle. Four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kieran and Reid Fogle and William Rosenstiel. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife. A funeral service for Mr. Fogle will be Friday, 11:00 A.M. in Forreston United Methodist Church, Forreston. Rev. David Poust, pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral home, 203 3rd Ave. Forreston. Burial will be in North Grove Evangelical Cemetery, Lightsville.
