Veneta C. Krogull

Veneta C. Krogull, age 90, of Freeport, IL passed away Tuesday September 26, 2023 at Manor Court in Freeport, one month and one day following the love of her life. She was born May 7, 1933 at home, the daughter of Alvin and Velma (Shippy) Casselman. On September 17, 1955 she married Jack Krogull at St. Thomas in Freeport. She was an entrepreneurial homemaker, reentering the workforce in 1973 as a key punch operator for Crum and Forrester Insurance where she made many lasting friendships, retiring in 1991. She loved reading and Veneta was the queen of remembrance and known for sending cards for every occasion. Together she and Jack enjoyed traveling, gardening and decorating for every holiday.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Kay Krogull, Sally (Russ) Roedl and Jacqui (Rollie) Jacobsen; six grandchildren, Barrett (Emily) Jacobsen, Nick (Kim) Krogull, Lyndsey (Nate) Spurlock, Ally Roedl, Kelsey (Brad) Kazmierczak, Taylor Jacobsen; 5 great- grandchildren, Omarion and Ari Pasley, Gavin Jacobsen, Beau and Brooks Kazmierczak; sister-in-law Herta Casselman; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Ed, granddaughter Danielle Roedl, six brothers Francis Nelson, Dale Nelson, Glenn Nelson, Lyle Casselman, Daryl Casselman, Larry Casselman; three sisters Aileen Nelson, Marion Nelson, Mildred Downing; and three nieces Glenda Reilly, Cathy Wolniakowski, and Jackie Dyson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday September 29, 2023 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Deacon Kim Hemesath officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Inurnment of cremated remains will be at Calvary Cemetery. Cremation Rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to St. Judes in Veneta’s memory.
