Tonya Jo Schmidt

Tonya Jo Schmidt, 40, passed away Saturday December 25, 2021 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born August 11, 1981 in Arlington, TX, the daughter of Joel Pontnack and Jamie Lee Culp. Tonya married Jeff Schmidt on September 27, 2019 in Freeport, IL. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and taking pictures, so much that her phone had over 6,000 pictures on it. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her seven children. Tonya is survived by her husband Jeff Schmidt of Freeport, IL; seven children Alyssa, Payton, Joshua, Nathaniel, Grant, Hope, and Grey; parents Jamie (Kurt) Fiene of Findlay,OH and Joel (Tina) Pontnack of Freeport, IL; siblings Michael (Tiffany) Fiene of Morehead City, NC, Cassie Fiene of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Natalie (Troy) Freytag of Ada, OH and their children Liam and Amelia Freytag; and grandparents Don Culp of Ocala, FL, Keith Pontnack of Rochelle, IL, and Rich Fiene of Davis, IL. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Dee Culp(Casper) and paternal mother Carol (Lamm) Barry. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. Thursday December 30, 2021 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL. A service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Mausoleum at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum in Freeport. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Tonya's memory.
