Thornton "Bud" Gerald Neal

Thornton 'Bud' G. Neal, 89, of Freeport, died, Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Presence St. Joseph Center, Freeport. Bud was born on May 11, 1924 in Waukesha, WI. the son of James and Lenora (Harris) Neal. Bud served in World War II for the U.S. Navy (Sea-Bees). He worked at Honeywell as a machinist. Bud was a member of First Baptist Church where he sang with the 'joy singers' . Surviving are sister, Noreen (Wayne) Worth of Kansas City, Mo.; six nieces, Terry (Steve) Henke, Cheryl (Don) Dobbins, Robin (Don) Knudson, Sharon (Phil) Machado, Linda Smith, and Patti (Nick) Sylvester; nephew, Gary (Pat) Worth. Also surviving are many great nieces and great nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Freeport. Pastor Steve Rios will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at First Baptist. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
