Thomas Kramer

Thomas Kramer, 80, of Freeport passed away, Wednesday December 6, 2023 in his home, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Mr. Kramer was born December 31, 1942, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Harold and Marcella (Jeager) Kramer. Thomas married Judith Ann Fischer May 7, 1966 in Earlville, Iowa. Thomas worked for the Stephenson County Sherriff’s Department and Northwestern Mutual Life. Mr. Kramer was very active with the Freeport Catholic Schools, volunteering as groundskeeper and coach for the baseball team with his son, Todd. Mr. Kramer also assisting in groundskeeping of the Highland Community College baseball field. He enjoyed following all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren activites, being outdoors, fishing and hunting. Thomas was a member of the Freeport Eagles Club.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Judith Ann Kramer; son Todd (Amy) Kramer of Freeport; daughter, Lisa (Jay) Shaw of Aurora; sister, Angie Haight of Coralville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jesse Shaw (Katie), Haley (Josh) Dunn, Kolton (Jaicee)Kramer, and Kelsey Kramer (Dana Jordan); and three great-grandchildren Bohdi, Emersyn and Zoey.

Mr. Kramer was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Justin; and sister, Berndette Wagner.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday December 9, 2023 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation 9:00 am until the time of service. The family asks friends to wear their favorite sports attire. Fellowship following service at Ciminos until 2:30. Private family burial will take place. A memorial has been established in Mr. Kramer’s memory.
