Taylor Rice "Uncle Mane", Jr. 69 of Freeport died Friday in his home. He was born March 5, 1945 in Charleston, Mississippi, the son of Taylor and Sallie (Skyes) Rice, Sr. Before moving to Freeport, Mr. Rice lived in Hayti, Missouri., Detroit Michigan and later Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Rice was employed by School District 145 for 17 years. On December 25, 1979 he married Linda H. Johnson in Freeport. Mr. Rice attended Freeport Faith Center. Mr. Rice is survived by his wife, his son, William C. (Charlena) Rice of Rockford. Four daughters; Cordelia Marie Rice of Freeport, Ebony R.M. McClellan of Madison, Wisconsin, Iona A.M. Rice and Destinee J.K. Martin both of Freeport. Two brothers; Chally (Comfort) Rice of Crystal, Minnesota and Leon (Barbara) Rice of Rockford. Three sisters; Louise Davis of Tutwiler, Mississippi, Sallie (Willie) Thomas of Hayti, Missouri and Rose Smith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Three grandsons; Brennan Henning, Stanley Reginald Rice and William M.C. Rice, Jr.; three step granddaughters and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Chester Smith and David Rice, Two sisters, Lula Mae Washington and Ernestine Spears. Also, his nephew, Eric Rice. Memorial services for Mr. Rice will be Saturday, 11:00 A.M. at Faith Center, 203 W. Pleasant St., Freeport.
