Theresa Arlene Egan 75, of Freeport died Friday, August 16th, 2013 suddenly in her home. Born on February 6, 1938 in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter or Earl W. and Tressie L. Lyons. Arlene married John (Jack) Egan on July 25th, 1959 in Dunnington, Indiana. Arlene and Jack started their married life in Burr Oak, Michigan and three years later moved to Freeport, IL. The Egans have been members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport and St. Timothy'™s in The Villages, Florida. Arlene worked for more than 25 years for Freeport School District #145 as a Reading and English teacher. Arlene was an avid swimmer, artist, doll maker, stamper and card maker. Arlene was known for her beaming smile and the love she had for family and friends. Arlene was a strong proponent of education, herself as a graduate of both Indiana University (Bachelors) and Northern Illinois University(Masters). She took great pride in being a Hoosier. Arlene is survived by husband Jack Egan, children Colleen (Len) Nicolosi of Rockford, Terry (Jennifer) Egan of Rockford, and Pat (Sharon) Egan of Byron. Grandkids include Matthew Nicolosi, Michael Nicolosi, Nathan Egan, Taylor Egan, Sara Hallstein, Shannon Hallstein, Riley Egan, and Delaney Egan. Arlene is preceded by parents Earl and Tressie Lyons and brother William (Jane) Lyons. A visitation has been set for Friday, August 23, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut St., Freeport, Illinois. Services will take place on Saturday, August 24th starting at 10:00 a.m. with a short visitation from 9 am until services begin at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1,400 Kiwanis Drive, Freeport, Illinois. Internment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1700 W Stephenson Rd in Freeport. The family has requested that friends join them for a luncheon at the church following the internment. A memorial has been established in lieu of flowers to The Egan Family Fund in care of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois, 946 N. Second St, Rockford, IL 61107.
