Susie Mae Poe, 76, of Freeport, died Saturday July, 7, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Susie was born on March 28, 1936 in Stateline, Mississippi, the daughter of Dea A.G. and Louise (Jackson) Battles. Susie worked for FHN Memorial Hospital in the Surgery Department for 10 years. Then Susie worked at Provena St. Joseph Home for thirty years. She married Leslie Poe on November 8, 1960 in Waynesboro, MS. He died on August 3, 1992. Survivors include her mother; one son Charles; one daughter Mary Delores Graves of Ellisville, MS; one brother A.C. (Bette) Battles of Pascagoula, MS; three sisters, Wilma Turner of Sacramento, CA., Alice Battles of Oakland, CA. and Doris (William) Caver of MS; three grandchildren Darrin and Alex Mosley and Marilyn Graves; also three step grandchildren Leslie, Charles and Patricia Poe of Milwaukee, WI. Preceded in death by her father and brother. Funeral services will be Friday 11 a.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Pastor Kelvin McGee will officiate.
