Susan Mae Young

Susan Mae Young, 87, of Freeport, died Sunday March 13, 2016 in her home. She was born January 2, 1929 in Merrill, WI, the daughter of Amos and Ruth (Langdon) Tobias. She married Merton Young January 29, 1948 in Merrill, WI; he died August 9, 2009. Susan worked for a nursing home in Wisconsin and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion. She loved ice cream and enjoyed canning, sewing, embroidering, and puzzle boards. Susan is survived by her two sons Marvin Young of Freeport, IL and Ellis Young of Tomahawk, WI; two daughters Sandra (Marvin Pearson) Young and Kathy Young both of Freeport, IL; two brothers Leonard (Mary) Tobias of Clinton, IA and Donald (Ruby) Tobias of New Mexico; five sisters Cora (Gerald) Gerloff of Freeport, IL, Rose (LeRoy) Marshall of Fulton, IL, Delores (Harold) Smart of Mt. Vernon, IL, Barbara (Duane) Wenzlow of Waussa, WI, and Ruby Stroup of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sons; two daughters; one brother; and two sisters. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday March 22, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be from 5:00-7-:00 P.M. Monday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lanark Cemetery.
