Susan Denise Kaney

Susan Denise Kaney, age 49, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, December 1, 2010. She resided at Bayside Terrace in Waukegan, Illinois. Susan was born in Freeport, Illinois on December 10, 1960 to James Kaney and the late Joan (Miller) Kaney of Baileyville, IL. Susan was one of four children and grew up on the Kaney farm which has been in the family for over 150 years. She graduated from Forreston High School in 1979. Following high school she went on to become certified as a Nursing Assistant through the nursing program at Highland Community College. After completing her training, Susan held a position at Shannon Nursing Home in Shannon, Illinois for ten years. Susan also briefly attended the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music. She worked at Malcolm Eaton Enterprises in Freeport for 17 years and received an award for excellence in 2004. Susan was always very proud of her work and was a dedicated and conscientious employee. She lived in the rural Baileyville, Illinois home she grew up in until January of 2010. At that time she moved to Lake County, Illinois where she lived with her sister and family in Vernon Hills for several months. Then in April of 2010, Susan moved to Bayside Terrace in Waukegan where she resided until her death. Susan was known and loved for her generosity and gentle spirit. She was a 'foodie' , loved a good cup of coffee and had a passion for jigsaw puzzles and games. Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Miller Kaney. She is survived by her father, James J. Kaney of Freeport, IL, her sisters Kathleen Kaney of Freeport, IL and Pamela Kaney Wunderlich (Raymond) of Vernon Hills, IL, and her brother John Kaney (Jacqueline) of Davis, IL. She is also survived by her two nieces, Lauren Wunderlich of Vernon Hills, IL and Jennifer Kaney of Davis, IL. A memorial fund has been established in her name. Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, December 6 at North Grove Evangelical Church, 10384 W. Coffman Road, Forreston, Illinois. The visitation will be at 10:00 am and the funeral will be at 11:00 am. A luncheon will be provided immediately following the burial.
