Shirley M. Gramley, 90, of Pompano Beach, Florida died on Wednesday, September 11, in her home. She was born July 23, 1923 in Dixon, the daughter of Irene Palmer Duffy and Mark Duffy. She came to Freeport as a small child and attended St. Thomas Aquinas School and Freeport High School Shirley sang with several bands in the Freeport area in the 1940'™s but most enjoyed singing to her children and grandchildren. On February 6, 1942, she married Irvin Gramley in the rectory of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeport. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irv, on August 25, 1987, as well as by her parents and brothers, Robert Duffy and Thomas Duffy. Shirley is survived by three daughters, Ginger Gramley Smith (John) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Bonny Arndt of Lakewood, Colorado, and Pam Reid (Ralph Edo) of Coconut Creek, Florida, who was her unceasingly faithful and devoted caregiver. She is also survived by treasured grandchildren, Abby Figi, Dani Clarkson, Andrew Smith, Caitlin Esquibel, Brodie Arndt, Jesse Arndt, Natalie Hatmaker, Kiel Arndt, Jason Reid and Mandy Berry and great-grandchildren numbering twenty-six. She is also survived by her brother, James Duffy and many nieces and nephews. We are so thankful for the life of our Mother and Grandmother. Funeral services will be Friday 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Father Kenneth Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service at the Church.
