Shirley Euells

Shirley Euells, 81, departed this life on Thursday May 12, 2016 in Rockford, IL at Saint Anthony Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born February 4, 1935 in Yazoo, MS, to the union of Lilbert and Mary Hollins. On January 6, 1956 Robert and Shirley joined hand in marriage, and to this union was born: one son George J. Euells, and two daughters Linda L. Euells and Pauline E. Euells. In 1967 Robert and Shirley moved to Freeport, IL, where she joined and became a faithful member of Second Baptist Church. She also remained a faithful member of Ransom Memorial Church serving the Lord. Shirley was employed at Thermos Division for thirty plus years, and also at Provena nursing Home for eight years. As well as being there for others in the time of need. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, and friend. She was known as "Grandma Shirley". She leaves to cherish her memories: one son George J. Euells; two daughters Linda L. Euells and Pauline E. Euells all of Freeport, IL; her stepdaughter Modora A. (Rand) Gordon of Lexington, MS; her step granddaughter Rochelle Brown of Rockford, IL; four sisters Marzilla (Albert) O'Neal, Parthenia (Harvey) Williams, Clara Hollins, and Elezia Euells all of Freeport, IL; two brothers Lilbert Hollins and Dave Hollins of St. Louis, MO; 6 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends Marie Perez, Kathy (Albert) Loyd, Rev. Charles and Sis Dorothy Hawthorne. She was preceded in death by her parents Lilbert and Mary Hollins; her husband Robert Euells; two sisters Marlee and Mary; four brothers Eddie, AJ, George, and Chester Hollins; her granddaughter Ashley; her grandson George D. Thomas Sr.; and her great-grandson Lateries Gage Jr. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday May 20, 2016 at St. James C.M.E. Church (1001 E. Empire St. Freeport, IL) with Rev. Dr. T. Marcellus Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Freeport City Cemetery.
