Shelly Perkins A.K.A. "Grandma Shelly," Age 61, of Marshall, WI went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 4, 2019. Shelly was born on October 3, 1958, in Webb, MS. She was the loving daughter of R.L. and Essix Simmons. She graduated from Freeport High School in Illinois. Shelly worked at The Manor in Freeport, IL for several years in the kitchen and laundry department. Shelly also spent time living in Memphis, TN surrounded by her loved ones. Shelly's biggest blessing was her family, especially her three children; Randy, Anthony, and Samantha. She loved spending her free time hanging out with family and friends, playing guitar, and traveling to various places. Shelly is survived by her children; Samantha Johnson of Marshall, WI and Anthony (Tami) Johnson of Browntown, WI. Her four brothers Roger Bland of Freeport, IL, Dannie (Connie) Bland of Freeport, IL, Thella Bland of Freeport, IL, and Otha Bland of Madison, WI. Her two sisters; Mary Bland of Memphis, TN and Essie Simmons of Memphis, TN. Her 8 grandchildren; Nykela, Sa'Niya, Edmond, Sierra, Sommer, Dustin, Marque, and Brea. 3 great grandchildren; CJ, Carter, and Ayanna. As well as, several nieces and nephews. Shelly is preceded in death by her parents R.L. and Essix Simmons as well as, her son Randy Johnson. Shelly also leaves behind her best friend Shirley Driver. Shelly was the light in the darkest of times. She was the kind of person that would befriend everyone, even strangers and lift their spirits. She was one of the most selfless people who would help anyone in a time of need. She loved everyone she crossed paths with and treated them as if she had known them for an eternity. Shelly was truly the definition of a Godly woman. She always knew how to spread positivity even in the most trying of times. Her graciousness will never be left unnoticed and will be remembered forever. She was a once in a lifetime kind of woman, a woman that most people strive to exemplify. Everyone will miss her laugh that filled the entire room, her beautiful smile, and kind words. Shelly's memory will live on forever through each person's life that she touched. She will truly be missed. The family will be holding a visitation, on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. at Bible Community Church (2810 W Pearl City Rd, Freeport, Illinois) A service will follow at 11:00 A.M. The burial will be held after service. A luncheon will be held after the service and burial. The family would like to extend many thanks to everyone for the support and prayers during this difficult time.
