Sharon K. Meier

Sharon K. Meier, 79, of Freeport, IL passed away Friday June 23, 2023 at WinnPraire Assisted Living and Memory Care with her children by her side. She was born March 15, 1944 in Lena, IL to LaVerne and Iona (Bicker) Sturtevant. On March 16, 1962 she married Lawrence “Larry” W. Meier in Freeport, IL. Larry passed away September 12, 2016. Sharon enjoyed gardening, flowers, and animals, especially dogs and cats. She was always sewing for her family and she was a great cook. Sharon really enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter and son, Pamela Meier and Robert (Sarah) Meier, both of Freeport, IL; sister Cheryl (Terry) Phillips of Pearl City, IL; and grandsons Daniel (Maia) Meier of West Allis, WI and Brandon Meier of Freeport, IL.

Preceding Sharon in death are her parents, husband, brother Robert Sturtevant and sister Janet Pauley.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday June 30, 2023 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Chaplain Sean Huguenin officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Sharon’s memory. Sharon’s family would like to thank the staff at WinnPrarie for their exceptional care and a special gratitude to Amy Baker and Liz Woitynek.
