Shaletha (Lisa) Thompson Mays was born on March 9, 1975 in Chicago, IL to Elizabeth and Willie Cooper. She was called to rest on May 14, 2019 with family surrounding her. In 1978, Lisa and her family moved to Freeport, IL where she was raised. She attended Freeport Schools graduating in 1996. During High School she enjoyed her time on the Track and Field Team. In 2005, she moved to Peoria IL, where she met the love of her life Tyrone Mays, here they raised four children. Lisa was baptized and confessed in Christ at an early age. Lisa was a dedicated and hard worker. She was employed by Grandview Alzheimer Home, as an activity coordinator for the past two years. During her two years at Grandview she gained new family and friends, her compassion for others was contagious. Prior working at Grandview she had her own business as a licensed daycare provider. She was a very positive young lady that loved to spread love to everyone she met. Lisa was a loving Wife and Mother that enjoyed spending time with her children and granddaughter, often playing games, dancing, laughing and joking around. Lisa legacy will forever live on. She leaves cherishing her memories: Her husband Tyrone Mays of Peoria IL; one daughter Krystal Shipp of Peoria IL; two sons Eric Price and Damon Shipp both of Peoria IL. Four sisters, Christine (Thomas) Johnson, Alfreda (Dyami) Pearson, Wilena Thompson and Jeanette (Lenere) Thompson all of Freeport IL. Six brothers; Cornell (Adrianne-Shaw) Cooper of Louisiana, Willie Cooper Jr. of Texas, James (Vernita) Allen of Chicago, IL, Ray Anthony (Linda) Thompson of Freeport, IL, Garry (Angela) Thompson, of Carpentersville, IL and Jeffery Thompson of Germany. One granddaughter, Jordan Elizabeth Shipp of California. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews along with other family members and close friends. Lisa is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Elizabeth Cooper, one daughter, Dathel Thompson, and one sister-in-law, Krystal Thompson. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. on Saturday May 25, 2019 at Faith Center, Freeport. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial has been established in Lisa's memory.
