Sam Bankston, Jr., 78 of Brown Deer, Wisconsin and former Freeport resident died Monday in his home. Sam was born on November 27, 1938 in Charleston, Mississippi the son of Sam and Toni (Sanders) Bankston Sr. Same served on the Deacon Board of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ for 28 years. Sam also worked at Kelly Springfield Goodyear Companies for 28 years. Sam served his friends, neighbors and people throughout the community in good faith never looking for anything in return. Sam loved talking about the Lord with anyone who crossed his path. He was a good man who served his time well while here on Earth. Leaving this world to cherish his memory are his loving and wife and best friend of 45 years Ernestine Bankston, two daughters; Joyce (Hank) Washington of Chicago and Betty (Billy) Baker of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, six sisters; Juanita Brown, Pearly Kirk, Ethel, Johnson, Ruthie Lacy, Shirley Ruth Harris and Dorothy Jean Picham. Also surviving are five grandchildren, one great granddaughter and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Walter Bankston and sister; Willie Bell Williams. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 17, 2012 at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Church. A memorial has been established in Sam'™s memory.
