Sally Jo Derenski Fluegel

Sally Jo Derenski Fluegel, 65, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, after a fall at home.

Sally Jo was born in Freeport, Illinois, on February 1, 1958, to Thomas F. and Joan (Baxter) Derenski. She was a 1976 graduate of Freeport High School and received her nursing degree from Highland Community College in 1981.

Sally loved the outdoors and enjoyed scuba diving, snowmobiling, and boating. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her cat, Malibu.

Survivors include her significant other John Koscianski of Longmont; two sons: Bradley Virtue of Denver, Colorado, and Adam (Andrea Virtue of Wellington, Colorado; two grandchildren: Layla Virtue of Longmont and Austin Virtue of Wellington; one brother, James Derenski (Carol Drummet), of Freeport, Illinois; two sisters: Rebecca (James) Kerchner of Freeport, Illinois, and Astasia Kumpf (Peter Van Ronk) of Lakewood, Colorado; three nephews: Ben Houghton, Travis Houghton, and Kiowa Kumpf.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a celebration of life in Loveland, Colorado on June 10, 2023. No local services will be held.
