Ruth L. O'™Hara, 94, of Freeport, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at Parkview Home. She was born on February 27, 1918 in Ogle County, the daughter of George and Edna (Appel) Link. Ruth was employed as a Claims Representative and Authorizer for the social security administration. She married Orville O'™Hara on August 10, 1959. He died on July 15, 1975. Her memberships included Faith United Methodist Church, Freeport Hospital Auxiliary '" Pink Lady and the YWCA. Ruth graduated from Freeport High School and Browns Business College. After graduating she went to Washington, D.C. to work for social security administration. Later she moved to Chicago, Evanston and Carbondale while continuing to work for social security. After retirement she returned to Freeport. Survivors include her niece Myrna (Duane) Gruhn of Lanark; great nephew Greg (Annette) Gruhn of Lanark; great niece Cynthia (Rick) Fisher of Midland, TX and a great great nephew Tyler Gruhn. She was preceded in death by her husband, sister, and parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at Burke-Tubbs Freeport. Rev John Wesley Lee will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in her memory.
