Ruth Ann Richtemeyer

February 24, 1940 — March 18, 2016

Ruth Ann (Albrecht) Richtemeyer passed away on March 18, 2016, at Rockford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born on February 24, 1940, at home in Pleasant Valley Township (Stockton, IL), she was the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Bonjour) Albrecht. Ruth attended Stockton schools and graduated in 1958. After high school, Ruth moved to Freeport and worked at Economy Fire & Casualty. While at Economy, she took evening classes to become a licensed cosmotologist. On April 4, 1965, she married Dean Richtemeyer in Elizabeth, IL. They farmed together in the Lena area after marrying and in 1969, they moved to Orangeville and farmed there until Dean passed away on November 26, 2011. Ruth was the ultimate farm wife, working alongside Dean ensuring the family farm was a success. She was no stranger to driving tractor, feeding cattle, gardening, cooking, baking, and ensuring the bookwork was kept up-to-date. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, spending time with friends, and she was a NASCAR/Matt Kensenth fan. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Mike) Snider of Orangeville and Sue (David Hacker) Richtemeyer of Pingree Grove, IL; and two grandchildren, Samantha (Ben) Lawfer of Kent, IL and Steve (fiance Kim Lamar) Snider of Orangeville, IL. Five sisters Jean (Bill) Kammer of Round Rock, TX; Shirley Ege of Elizabeth, IL; Nelda (Roger) Beyer of Billings, MT; Rose Albrecht and Sally (Randy) Powell both of Freeport, IL; and two brothers Don (Shelby) Albrecht of Westin, WI; and Larry (Kristi) Albrecht of Huntley, MT; three sisters-in-law Alice (Lyle) Dahms and Marion Smith both of Freeport, IL; and Norma (Leo) Zimmerman of Dakota; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law and a brother-in-law. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Orangeville United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the church.
