Russell O. Wilhelms

Russell Oliver Wilhelms, 88, of Freeport died Thursday December 14, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Russell was born November 17, 1929 in Stephenson County to Oliver and Matilda (Denekas) Wilhelms. He was a resident of Pearl Pavilion in Freeport. From 1979-2011 Russell was employed at Malcolm Eaton Enterprises. Russell loved his job, Dolly Parton and the state of Tennessee. Surviving are his brother Wayne Wilhelms of Freeport; two sisters June Gaar of Garden City, CA and Carolyn Amodeo of Freeport; and sister-in-law Marie Wilhelms. Russell was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Leroy Wilhelms and Paul Wilhelms; two sisters Miriam Harnish and Dorothy Wilhelms; sister-in-laws Marjorie Wilhelms and Donna Wilhelms; and brother-in-laws James Amodeo, Hobe Gaar and Delbert Harnish. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday December 20, 2017 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport with Pastor Kurt Strong officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Tuesday December 19, 2017 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in his memory.
