Ruby Lee Pearson

Ruby Lee (Tripplett) Pearson 78, of Freeport, IL, passed away into the arms of her Savior on March 18, 2016. She was born August 28, 1937 in Greenwood, Mississippi to the late Rev. Nazareth and Late Annie (Sykes) Tripplett. She graduated Freeport Senior High School in 1956. She attended LaMolo School of Beauty Culture. She is the first Black Cosmetologist to operate a ethnic hair salon, "Ruby Lee's Beauty Salon," in downtown Freeport. Working two jobs she was a faithful employee for Honeywell for 33 years. She truly loved spending time in the Word and with friends and family. She was such a special person full of life and will be sorely missed. Ruby is survived by her chidren: Diana Johnson-Schaar of Fort Worth, TX., Kelly Pearson of Freeport, IL., and Maurice Pearson of Rockford, IL; two brothers Wallace (Edrenna) Tripplett of Chicago, IL and Nazareth Tripplett of Rockford, IL; her grandchildren Felicia (Gen), Siobhan (Yahinus), Eean-Maurice (Naomi), Austin and Brianna; and the "Big Mama," to ten bouncing smiling great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday March 25, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Pastor Mark Vlad will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M.-12:30 P.M.
