Roscoe H. "Nick" Nickel, 87 of Lena, died Saturday July 8, 2017 at Heritage Woods of Freeport. Nick was born August 25, 1929 in Waddams Grove, Illinois, the son of Frederick and Fredia (Lewin) Nickel. He married Patricia Mulvihill April 18, 1953 in New York, New York. Mrs. Nickel died September 28, 2012. Mr. Nickel served for his county in the U.S. Army. He farmed the Schullsburg, Wisconsin area for many years then worked for PuroFilter Company in Queens, New York. Nick attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gratiot, Wisconsin. He enjoyed going to the beach, family picnics, old cars, and playing euchre and pepper a family favorite. Surviving are two daughters, Maureen Febo of Farmington, CT. and Judy (Eddie) Sepulveda of New York, N.Y.; sister, Eleanor Musser; two sisters-in-law, Viola Nickel and Anna Mae Nickel; three grandchildren, Monique Padang, Briana Sepulveda, and Eric Sepulveda. Also surviving are special friend, Patsy Gille of South Wayne, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six brothers, Alfred, Wayne, Harold, Roger, Ted, and Bob; and two sisters, Irene and Marian. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday July 12, 2017 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs.
