Ronald S. Erdman

Ronald S. Erdman, 84, of Freeport, IL, died Monday September 29, 2014 at Illinois Veteran Home in Manteno, IL. He was born April 14, 1930 in Freeport, IL, the son of Floyd Leo and Ruth (Staas) Erdman. Ronald worked at Micro Switch/Honeywell and later at Malcolm Eaton Enterprises. He served in the Naval Reserves and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict serving in Germany. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, V.F.W., and the Stephenson County Steam Engine Club. Ron loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles. Ronald is survived by three sons Lenny Erdman of Freeport, IL, Don Erdman of Freeport, IL, and Randy (Judy) Erdman of Campbellsport, WI; his sister Shirley (Rocky) Stutes of Priest River, ID; four grandchildren Michael Erdman, Toni (Sam) Barghout, Randi (Bret Galligan) Erdman, and Dustin (Jackie Murphy) Erdman; one great-grandson Sabastian Barghout. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday October 4, 2014 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with Rev. Bill Blomberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs. Burial of cremains will take place at Freeport City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory.
