Ronald Lee Kerkhoff, 65, of German Valley, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at Clinton, Iowa. Ronald was born on April 17, 1947 in Freeport, the son of Fred and Eileen (Nampel) Kerkhoff. Ronald was a 1965 graduate of Forreston High School. Ronald served in the Vietnam War for the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. On September 7, 1985, Ronald married Gale Miller in German Valley. Ronald was a self-employed carpenter, he also farmed in the German Valley area. He was a member of Silver Creek Reformed Church, where he was active in many church activities. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. Mr. Kerkhoff is survived by his wife, Gale. Two sons, Ryan Kerkhoff; of Freeport and Jake Kerkhoff; of German Valley. His father Fred Kerkhoff; of Freeport. His brother, Rodger (Jana) Kerkhoff ; of Freeport. His father in law, Reggie (Doris) Miller of Freeport. His sister in law, Nancy Miller of German Valley. His nephews, Matt (Laura) Kerkhoff, William (Carol) Hermann and Garrett Miller. His nieces; Kelli (Michael) Hall and Carolyn Barclay. Two great-nephews, Jake Barclay and Blakeley Kerkhoff and his great-niece, Allison Barclay. Also, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ronald was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen; mother-in-law, Dolores Miller; and many beloved friends and family members. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday January 17, 2013 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Rev. Randy Knoll will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. also at Burke Tubbs in Freeport. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Ronald'™s memory.
