Roger W. Steele

Roger W. Steele, 86, of Freeport died Saturday at Liberty Village of Freeport . He was born February 17, 1926 in Peoria, Illinois the son of William and Iva (Baird) Steele. Mr. Steele married Joy Foehner on December 18, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Steele served as Principal for the Park Ridge-Niles School district 64, retiring in 1989. He also was manager of Conference Point Camp, Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Mr. Steele was a W.W. II Navy veteran. He was a faithful member and worker at Community Presbyterian Church, Mt. Prospect and a member of United Presbyterian Church, Freeport. Mr. Steele was also a lifetime member of NEA and a member of the Golden K Kiwanis. Mr. Steele is survived by his wife, his daughter; Debbie ( Glenn) Lapinski of Freeport. His four grandchildren; Charissa (David) Toeller, Nick (Mary) Steele, Chelsey (Kevin) Wiley, and Halley Lapinski, daughter-in-law; Jeanie Steele. Also a great-grandson, Luke Toeller. Mr. Steele was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mark W, Steele. Memorial service will be Saturday, 11:00 May 26, 2012 at Community Presbyterian, Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
