Roger P. Freese

Roger P. Freese, 88, of Pecatonica, IL passed away Friday March 15, 2024 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL. He was born June 25, 1935 in Ridott, IL to Wessel and Jennie (Frey) Freese. Roger married JoAnn Jacobs on November 21, 1958 in Freeport, IL. Joann passed away May 5, 2018. Roger served in the United States Army from 1956-1958. Roger was a machinist at Camcar in Rockford for 30 years. He and his wife were members of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church and former members of Zion Church. The Lions Club of Pecatonica was very important to Roger and JoAnn. They were members for over 35 years and held various positions throughout their memberships. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife and spending winters in Texas for many years.

He is survived by his two daughters Tamara (Phillip Lowery) Burnett of Machesney Park, IL and Wendy (Dennis) Gregory of Rockford, IL; brother Jerry (Marilyn) Freese of Long Beach, CA; sister-in-law Dolores Freese; grandchildren Christina Gregory, Beth (Bobby) Gates, Tiffany Burnett, Lindsey (Chris) Burnett-Martinez, and Travis (Megan) Burnett; great-grandchildren Alexis, Taylor, Landynn, Ethan, Hunter, Greyson, Freya, and Lily; great-great-grandchildren Kaasin and Oaklynn.

Preceding Roger in death are his parents, wife, brother Marvin Freese, brother-in-law Clifford Jacobs, and son-in-law Gary Burnett.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 20, 2024 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday March 19, 2024 also at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial has been established in Roger’s memory.
