Rodney "Rod" L. Strong

Rodney "Rod" L. Strong, 66, of Freeport, passed away, Monday March 1, 2021 in his home surrounded by family. Rodney was born June 15, 1954 in Freeport, the son of Roger "Smokey" and Lola (Bush) Strong. Rodney married Melodie Veer December 21, 1997 in Freeport. Rodney drove semi truck for many years. He was a member of Church of Nazarene. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and woodworking. Rodney was always known for helping others. He liked repairing automobiles. Surviving is his wife, Melodie Strong of Freeport; daughter, Karla Taylor of Pearl City; two stepdaughters, Lisa MacQueen and Angil MacQueen; two sisters, Tamala Strong of Wisconsin, and Pamela (Kenny) Rudsinski of Marengo; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Peterson, Katrina MacQueen, Rileigh Peterson, Amelia Strong, Alexander Couch, Ezalea Strong, Mayson McFarlane, and Austin Frenzel; bonus children Tiffany and Michael Snyder; special friends, Allen Meyer and Joseph Reid; Also surviving is many nieces and nephews. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert "Robby" Strong. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, March 5, 2021 at Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Scott Casto will officiate. Visitation 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Thursday March 4, 2021 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation Friday from noon until the time of service at the church.
