Rodney E. Dyson

Rodney Eugene Dyson (77) of Freeport, IL passed away at home on Sunday March 30, 2025. He was born in Freeport, IL to Willard and Leona (Stichter) Dyson on August 6, 1947. 

Rodney was a graduate of Freeport High School and later went on to graduate from Highland Community College. He married Jackie Downing on June 22, 1969 in Freeport, IL. Rodney was a veteran of the US Army, and he retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company after 30 years. He was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport, and he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his brother, Norman Dyson; sister, Theressa Eastman, and his sister, Nina Garnhart; his children, Luke (Misty Marlenee) Dyson of Sterling, KS; Michael (Emily) Dyson of Rockford, IL, and Melissa Lamm (Tim Yoder) of Lanark, IL; ten grandchildren, Alex Dyson, Isaac Dyson, Aaron Dyson, Elizabeth Dyson, Benjamin Dyson, Joseph Dyson, Malachi Lamm, Silas Lamm, Ezekiel Lamm, and Abram Lamm.

 Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Willard Dyson and Leona Steele; his wife, Jackie Dyson; his brothers, Roy Dyson Sr. and David Dyson; two sisters, Barbara Lower and Marie Steele, and his son in law, Paul Lamm. 

Funeral Service will be Friday April 4th 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, Rev. Chris Stukenberg, Pastor Officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until time of service at Park Hills. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
