Robert William O'Hara

It is with a heavy heart that our family announces the passing of our beloved family member, Robert (Bob) W. O'Hara, 84, died on July 11, 2023 in Freeport, Illinois following his second battle with cancer. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 12, 1939 to Vira Ehrhart. He found, fell in love, and married the love of his life Marilyn O'Hara on December 19, 1964 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Robert is survived by his Wife: Marilyn O'Hara of Freeport, Illinois. Two children: Dawne Reemtsma of German Valley, Illinois and Troy (Jenine) O'Hara of Union Grove, Wisconsin. Three grandchildren: Nycole Mulder (Joshua Dinderman) of German Valley, Illinois; Kyle (Maggie) O'Hara of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; and Kelsey O'Hara of Chicago, Illinois. Two great-grandchildren: Aaron Dallman and Dylan Mulder, both of German Valley, Illinois. Sister: Lois (Eric) Drell of Arizona. Robert served from 1956 to 1960 in the Naval Air in Hawaii and then from 1960 to 1962 in the Naval reserves.

He had a passion for telling funny tales and stories of the past. He had a love for music and sometimes sang to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also an avid Vikings fan, Sudoku player and puzzle solver.

Bob had a strong love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also was very happy to hear when the whole family was getting together.

Robert worked for the Goodyear Hose Factory in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa as an Electric Technician from 1977-1979 and then transferred to Kelly Springfield Tires to become a Maintenance Supervisor in Freeport, Illinois where he worked from 1979-2000, when he retired. As most people who know Robert was a very hard worker, never taking the easy way and always providing for his family.

A visitation will be held at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Homes Wednesday July 19, 2023 from 5PM to 7PM.
