Robert W Thoren

Robert W. Thoren, 91, of Freeport died Thursday October 20, 2011 at Parkview Home. Robert was born in Rock City, Illinois on December 30, 1919, the son of Willard and Mabel (Hufford) Thoren. Robert married Betty Ann Grant on January 12, 1946 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Freeport. Robert served in World War II. He worked at Rock City Bank for many years before retiring and moving to Freeport with his wife Betty. Family was very important to Bob. He enjoyed listening to music, playing golf and working on his computer. He was a member of St. Thomas Church. Survivors include his wife Betty of Freeport, two sons; John (Lou) Thoren of Freeport and James (Marilyn) Thoren of Orangeville, 7 grandchildren; Mike Thoren of Freeport, Carrie (Jim) Luedeking of Freeport, Jennifer (Mark) Jansen of Littleton, Colorado, Brian (Jennifer) Thoren of Memphis Tennessee, Dustin (Michele) Thoren of Madison, Wisconsin, Timothy Thoren of Columbus, Mississippi and Megan Thoren of Denver, Colorado and 3 great grandchildren; Cole Luedeking, Clay Luedeking and Madelyn Thoren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one son; Dennis M. Thoren and one brother. Funeral mass will be 2:15 P.M. Saturday October 22, 2011 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Art Mallari officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:30 P.M. until the time of service at St. Thomas.
