Robert Marion Wachlin

Robert M. Wachlin, 93, of Freeport, passed away, Saturday, March 19, 2022. Robert was born November 13, 1928, in Belvidere, the son of Marion J. and Ruth (Parriott) Wachlin. Mr. Wachlin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954, during the Korean War. Robert married Lois Grice September 11, 1954, at Polo United Methodist Church. Lois died March 12, 2003. He then married Juanita Meinert June 24, 2005. Robert worked for Freeport School District 145 for many years as an administrator. Robert was a member of First United Methodist Church. Robert was an active volunteer in several organizations and service groups, donating his time and efforts to Freeport Golden K Kiwanis, Norman C. Sleezer Youth Home, Audubon Society, Freeport Memorial Hospital, and Freeport School District. Surviving is his wife, Juanita Wachlin; daughter, Martha Jane Wachlin of Freeport; sisters, Marilyn Larson, Lou Ann Stephenson, and Judith Vander Pol; stepdaughter, Gail Hefty; and stepson, Brian Hefty. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Lois; brother, Donovan Wachlin; and sister, Ruth Thatcher. Memorial services will be 11:15 a.m. Thursday March 31, 2022, at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Natarsha Gardner will officiate. Visitation 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
