Robert L. Long

Robert L. Long, Sr., 71, of Freeport, IL, passed away Thursday August 29, 2024 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 16, 1953 in Elgin, IL, the son of Ronald Long. Robert married Peggy Baal September 12, 1992 in Freeport, Il.Robert worked as a mechanic for Imh Motors and Irving Auto sales. He enjoyed fishing, models cars, Hot Wheels, bowling and running “Papa’s Daycare”.

Robert is survived by his wife, Peggy Long of Freeport, IL; sons, Robert Long, Jr. of Freeport, IL and Adam Luy of Chicago, IL; four daughters, Tina Temple, Shannon (George) Verner, Casey (Skyler) Rettenmeier and Laticia Long all of Freeport, IL; two brothers, Kenneth Long of Scottsdale, AZ and Scott (Syboanae) Long of Chandler, AZ; two sisters, Alicia (Gregg) Veitel of Mesa, AZ and Stacey Long-Neuharth of Scottsdale, AZ; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Family services will be held Tuesday September 3, 2024. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
