Robert H. Huisinga, 87, of Freeport, died Saturday, December 28 at Freeport Memorial Hospital. He was born September 15, 1926 at Freeport, IL, the son of Theodore and Alice (Daacon) Huisinga. Robert married Marjorie Noe on June 10, 1950 in Freeport. Robert was a World War II Navy veteran serving from 1944-1946. He owned and operated Huisinga Refrigeration and Air Conditioning for 40 years. Robert was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Freeport R/C Modelers Club where he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. He also enjoyed fishing. Robert is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his son, Jeff (Pat) Huisinga of Sun City Center, FL; his four daughters, Cindy (Rich) Brzostek of Rockford, Luanne (Mike) Sabin and Maribeth (Bob) Klaus of Freeport and Molly McGrath of Glendale, AZ. He is also survived by his half-brother, Donald (Luella) Thoren and half-sister, Sarah Ilgen; seven grandchildren: Carrie (Kirk) Fitzgerald, Lisa (Matt) Gandolfi, Kristopher (Kacee) Huisinga, Jill (Dave) Reiland, Andrea (John Weter) Sabin, Michael (Tara) Klaus and Shawn (Caitlin Clair) Klaus; six great-grandchildren: Meghan, Patrick, Brendan and Meredith Fitzgerald, James Gandolfi and Dylan Klaus. Robert was proceeded in death by his parents; step-father, Emmert Thoren; brother, John Huisinga; sister, Mary Alice and infant son, Thomas Patrick. Visitation will be at St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday, January 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at Noon. Rev. Kenneth Anderson will officiate.
