Robert Folk

Robert Howard Folk, 69, of Pearl City, passed away at home after a lengthy illness on Thursday, June 14, 2012. He was born on August 4, 1942 in Freeport, the son of Howard and Alice Folk. Bob was a standout athlete while attending Forreston High School. On July 12, 1959 he married Frances Ruman, was later divorced, then married Sharyle K. Wubbena on March 14, 1980. After dairy farming in the area for 12 years, Bob was employed as an auto body specialist and tow truck operator for Norm'™s Auto Body and Freeport Metal Specialties, and General Manager at Northwest Illinois Truck Parts for a total of 31 years. He enjoyed sports, drag racing, and gardening. He had a great love and appreciation for family, friends, his many pets, and life. He will always be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart and generous spirit. He is survived by his wife Sharyle Folk of Pearl City; children Laura Koester of River Falls, WI, James (Amy) Folk of Winnebago, Brian Folk of Grain Valley, MO, Roberta (Shon) Abeln of Sebring, FL, Kristina (Paul) McAfee of Grain Valley, MO, step-children Douglas (Kathy) Wollny of Freeport, Julie (Sean) Gregerson of Dyer, IN; grandchildren Nicole (Devin) Schultz-Kass, Michael and Michelle (Laura), Danielle and Josh (Jim), Courtney (Brian), Chaz and Seth (Roberta), Collin, Katie (Zach) Houchen, Ali, Connor, Marissa (Kristina), Ryan and Paige (Doug), and Kaitlyn, Tyler and Caleb (Julie); great-grandchild Katie Schultz; brother Kenneth (Thelma) Steinhagen of Beecher; sister Dory Gann of Mount Morris and his faithful companion Megan. Proceeding him in death are his parents Howard Folk, Alice and Wes Jacobs and brother-in-law Robert Gann. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Monday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 am at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with the burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
